Membership in the Wilkes-Barre Law & Library Association consists of two (2) forms: Regular Members and Associate Members.

REGULAR MEMBERS

All lawyers in good standing, duly qualified and authorized to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and having a principal office or residence located in the County of Luzerne, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, shall be eligible for membership in the Association.

ASSOCIATE MEMBERS

All lawyers in good standing, duly qualified and authorized to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, but not having a principal office or residence located in the County of Luzerne, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, shall be privileged to apply for an associate membership in the Association upon such terms and conditions as the Executive Committee of the Association may from time to time determine. Such membership shall not carry with it, however, the privilege of voting.

GROUP ADMISSION CEREMONY FOR NEWLY ADMITTED ATTORNEYS WHO PASSED THE PENNSYLVANIA STATE BAR EXAM

Any joining Regular Member lawyer who passed either the February or July Bar Exams and are admitted during the course of the year to the Pennsylvania Bar are eligible to participate in a New Lawyer Group Admission ceremony sponsored by the W-BLLA in December at the Max Rosenn U.S. Court House in Wilkes-Barre for admission into the Federal Bar of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. A separate Group Admission ceremony is held that same morning at the Luzerne County Courthouse, where the Common Pleas Court will hear Admission Petitions en banc for admission into the W-BLLA. A reception is then held, following the judicial ceremony, at the W-BLLA’s headquarters in the Hon. Max Rosenn Memorial Law Library on the Second Floor of the Luzerne County Court House. The ceremonies and reception are open to the family and friends of the new attorney admittees.

Anyone knowing of any local resident who has recently passed either the February or July Pennsylvania State Bar Exams should contact the W-BLLA at 822-6712. The Association will mail a New Lawyer Group Admission packet to these newly admitted attorneys in November; however, a lawyer passing the Bar is eligible to apply for membership in the W-BLLA at any time.

The 2012 New Attorney Admissions Ceremonies are scheduled for Thursday, December 13, 2012. Any lawyer passing the 2012 Pennsylvania Bar Exam who would like to join the W-BLLA and participate in either ceremony should contact the W-BLLA at (570) 822-6712.
